With so much talk of humidity, oily skin and monsoon there are surely people out there with a dry skin condition who must be feeling left out, to say the least. Imagine the whole world talking about the messy sticky situation that monsoon outs them in while you are still struggling with finding the right products which will help your dry skin a have a bit of that moisture which everyone wants to get rid of. Well, the Lakme Clean Up Nourishing Glow Range brings a sigh of relief with its “softening”, “nourishing glow” claims in a time when matte finish has become the standard flavour.
The Lakme Clean Up Nourishing Glow Range is a package containing a Face Wash, a Face Scrub and a Face Mask.
Enriched with strawberry extract, the Nourishing Glow range comes in red squeeze tube packaging with silver inscription and a flip-open cap.
The squeeze tubes are thus travel friendly albeit average looking.
Face Wash: The Lakme Clean Up Nourishing Glow face wash comes in a translucent red tube. It is of a gel-like consistency and contains small red and white microcrystalline wax beads. The face wash is translucent pink/red in colour and a small amount lathers generously. It is gentle on the skin and the micro beads can be barely felt. On the plus side, this makes the face wash feel soft and not granule-like and on the downside, these micro beads do not really make much of a difference to the face wash. The face wash cleanses the impurities and dirt off the face effectively giving the skin a fresh feel. The overall effect of the face wash is clean, refreshing and nourishing; it cleanses the face without making it too dry and leaves the face with a soft layer of moisture and a fresh glow.
Face Scrub: Where the Face Wash stops, the Scrub comes in. The Lakme Clean Up Nourishing Glow Face Scrub is an exfoliating skin scrub with strawberry extract and granules. The Face Scrub has medium sized granules which work towards exfoliation without being harsh on the skin. The scrub effectively cleans out the more rigid impurities. It also removes dead skin and acnes and blackheads. Overall, the Face Scrub is a deeply exfoliating and cleansing product and makes the skin look cleaner, softer and while removing excess oil, allows it to retain a healthy layer of moisture making your face supple and smooth.
Face Mask: The last step in the skin care routine, the Lakme Clean Up Nourishing Glow Face Mask is composed of strawberry extract, clay and Vitamin B3 for nourishment. The Mask promises a whole deal more than the Wash and the Scrub with its claims of skin lightening but does not cause any visible lightening even upon long term use. Other than that, the mask is cleansing and absorbs the last of facial impurities and also reduces blackheads visibly. The mask creates a tightening effect on the skin, keeping it moisturized and supple. The clay component absorbs excess oil to give a matte finish however the strawberry extract nourishes the skin to prevent it from being drying. The final effect is a glowing, clean and soft look.
Pros of Lakme Clean Up Nourishing Glow Range:
Squeeze tube portable packaging
3 step procedure cleanses skin completely
Oil absorbing but strawberry extract makes it suitable for dry skin
Gives a healthy, moisturized, supple glow
Reduces blackheads somewhat
Refreshing strawberry scent
Cons of Lakme Clean Up Nourishing Glow Range:
For very dry skin, a moisturizer will be required afterwards
Face Wash is not innovative- similar products exist in the market
Micro bead in face wash are merely pretty embellishments
The Face Mask does not lighten skin tone as claimed
Verdict: The Face Scrub is by far the superior most member of this group. However, the Face Wash and the Face Mask also contribute their fair share, and while sometimes the claims can be a bit far-fetched the entire package is a good at-home face care range. Not something to die for but for those looking for a less drying set of face-care range, the Lakme Clean Up Nourishing Glow Range might serve quite well. Worth a try if you are looking for a new product range or are a face cleansing enthusiast.
